4R Sedimentary Sandwiches

We are studying rocks and minerals in Science. This week we have been learning about sedimentary rocks. The students were given the opportunity to create their own sedimentary rocks, a.k.a. sedimentary sandwiches.
Here are the layers of our sandwiches:
Layer 1: Granite (paper plates)
Layer 2: Sandstone (white bread)
Layer 3: Conglomerate, mud, and rocks (crunchy peanut butter)
Layer 4: Shale (light wheat bread)
Layer 5: Fossilized Limestone (frosting)
Layer 6: Topsoil (dark wheat bread)
