My name is Shelley Brown and I am a high school English Teacher at Underwood High School. The 2009-10 school year will be my 20th year of teaching, all here at Underwood Community Schools. I have taught 8th, 9th, and 10th grade English/Language Arts, but now teach English I, English II, Advanced Reading, and an Accelerated English II course.
I earned my Associate of Arts Degree from Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, where I was a member of the women's volleyball team and a Resident Assistant in the girl's dorm. From there I went on to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls where I earned my English/Education Degree in 1990.
As a member of the Underwood staff I have had the opportunity to be the sophomore class sponsor and to coach junior high volleyball, assistant girls basketball, and assistant boys track. I thoroughly enjoyed all of those positions, but gave them up in order to start a family in 2000. I am the mother of two children, Logan and Lauren, who attend Underwood Schools.
